You need this number when you apply for an education voucher (Bildungsgutschein) from the Agentur für Arbeit / Jobcenter (Employment Agency)
Visual effects (VFX) have long been an integral part of modern film production. In a variety of techniques and work steps, film worlds are created in a wide variety of genres such as feature films, series, image films and commercials. The VFX compact course offers a profound basis for starting a career in this sought-after industry.
In the professional creation of visual effects, a whole range of specialized programs are used, which require artistic and technical skills. In three coordinated modules, they are conveyed and made familiar to the participants in many exercises and applications.
At the end of the course, each participant compiles the results of their own work into their own showreel, in which they can use the skills they have acquired in the areas of compositing, modeling, rigging, lighting, shading, texturing, animation, 3D tracking, simulations & particles, matte painting, rendering, editing and grading.
If you are not citizen of Germany or an EU citizen living in Germany you have the option of paying the course fee in installments via paypal. The conditions of paypal apply.
It is a full time course, it lasts 3.5 months (Mon-Thu: 9:00-17:00 / Fri: 9:00-13:00). It is led by lecturers who are themselves active in the professional media industry and can convey the current requirements of their specialist area from their own experience.
Theoretical lessons are constantly alternating with practical exercises, the result of which at the end of the course is a series of completed practice projects in which every participant was involved and from which everyone can create their own showreel.
Who is this course for?
The course is aimed at technically interested creatives who have not previously worked in the field of effects or animation, or who have only worked superficially, and who want to develop their skills.
The showreel that is created in the course is helpful to prove the skills acquired and can serve as a basis for applications to film and media schools or for applications for entry-level positions in animation, VFX and post-production companies.
The knowledge acquired is also helpful when designing your own short films and image films.
Participation requirements
Admission to the course takes place after a written application (including CV) and an online interview, in which it is determined whether the course is suitable for the applicant.
Previous knowledge of a specific software is not required, but basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Premiere or After Effects or other graphics software is an advantage. Knowledge of film design or photography, image composition and color design is also helpful.
Funding
The VFX compact course can be funded as a qualification measure with an education voucher from the German Agentur für Arbeit / Jobcenter (Employment Agency, 100% funding). This applies to job seekers as well as to companies and employees as long as they are citizens of Germany or an EU citizen living in Germany. More information below.
